COPS IN INDIANA KILL CANDIDATES CAMPAIGN, ARREST HIM TO STOP HIS GETTING ELECTED
Ah, Democracy is hard. First off, you have to vote. But that only works if you have the right to vote, of course. Or, maybe you want to run for office yourself, and get elected. And that means you have to get the most votes to win. That always takes convincing! But then again, if you are running for local office, small town politics can get down and dirty. Everyone knows everyone’s business. But what if the local cops think you don’t like them? And are threatened by the very idea of you winning an election? Democracy gets even harder if those cops decide to arrest you, to kill your political career before it even gets started. Unfortunately, this isn’t a hypothetical anymore. Not in Indiana, anyway. And not for candidate,Trevin Thalheimer.

INDIANA COPS MADE UP PROBABLE CAUSE, ARREST TREVIN THALHEIMER FOR FALSE RAPE CHARGES
And by Indiana, I should specify that the small town was Brookville. Trevin Thalheimer was running for office for a position on the town board. And for whatever reason, the local cops seemed to think that he was “anti-police.” And then a bad idea became reality. They said that Trevin smelled like marijuana, and then arrested him on a made up rape charge. As you might imagine, that killed his campaign and turned his life into a living hell. Just the stink of the allegations forced Thalheimer out of the race. Sure, Police Chief Terry Mitchum and Lt. Ryan Geiser got exposed for this. But they only got suspended with full pay! So much for getting elected in the best Democracy in the world!

CANDIDATE LEFT DUMBFOUNDED, NOT SURE IF TRYING TO GET ELECTED IS WORTH TRAUMA
As you might imagine, Thalheimer’s life went sideways for a bit after his arrest. He essentially laid in bed for 10 days, in shock and disturbed disbelief. He says the whole thing simply left him dumbfounded. Even more confusing to him is that he has never ever taken an anti-police stance. He’s certainly never said anything against police, especially the local police department. Yet somehow these Indiana cops were certain that he was. But Thalheimer isn’t sure he’s up for trying to get elected again after this fiasco. As you might guess, the investigation continues. Meanwhile, the two cops implicated are at home getting a full salary.
