DOCTORS SHOCKED AT CAUSE OF STOMACH PAIN
A man in India went to get medical help for chronic stomach pain. That’s not that unusual and could be true for almost anyone at some time. However, the cause of this man’s stomach pain is something that should be true for no one else. The doctors who examined him found a shocking 263 coins and 100 nails in the man’s stomach. That’s a lot of swallowed metal.
DEPRESSED MAN STARTED SWALLOWING METAL, 100 NAILS
The man with all the swallowed metal works as a rickshaw driver and had developed a severe depression. For some reason, his depression led him to swallow some of the coins he would receive from customers. This habit clearly became a problem, a 263-coin problem. There are no reports about why the man also swallowed the nails or where he got them from.
DOCTORS NEVER SEEN ANYTHING SO CRAZY
“The patient was complaining of stomach pain, so we thought of getting an endoscopy done,” said Dr. Priyank Sharma, who led the surgical team. “We were shocked to discover that coins, nails and nut-bolts in his stomach. We come across such a case for the first in our career.” The direct translation into English is, we’ve never seen crazy shit like this ever before. That’s a lot of swallowed metal.
DEPRESSION, STRESS CAN CAUSE DANGEROUS EATING
But compulsive object eating is not that unusual for people with depression and who are under severe stress. “Usually, people start eating abnormal things under certain psychological conditions. He had been eating metal for a year but did not tell anyone,” Dr. APS Geharwar, told a local paper. “Normally, there is no problem until these particles start obstructing the intestines. In this case, the problems had started.”
MAN SECRETLY SWALLOWED METAL FOR A YEAR
So, the poor rickshaw driver started eating metal a year ago, with no one the wiser. It’s a miracle the man got to the doctors in time. He had a shocking number of nails and coins stuck in his stomach. Somehow, those 100 nails and 263 coins had only started to cause bleeding. Nobody really knows how much metal the man had eaten that passed through his system without getting stuck this past year. Maybe think about that before you pick up a shiny penny off the sidewalk.
