The former French porn star is Clara Morgane, who is now known for being a television host and singer. But one member of the Cazanove family is not amused. The (deep breath) Count Loïc Chiroussot de Bigault de Cazanove is a French aristocrat (shocking, right?). His family used to own the family’s champagne brand. But he is suing to stop this partnership and association. Who knew Cazanove Champagne could be controversial?

Casanova was, well, the man when it came to affairs with the ladies. But Cazanove the brand is, well, now also looking to capitalize on the love that was for the love that is. Clara Morgane has become her own success story. She was a big name in porn. But she left that industry and found success in both television and music. Now she is in a position to find success in yet another with her partnership with the Cazanove Champagne brand. But these bubbles seem to come with some troubles. Yet sales of the champagne are doing quite well despite the new association.
COUNT CAZANOVE TERRIBLY VEXED, MAYBE JEALOUS?
But the Count Cazanove said in a radio interview that his “ancestors would be turning in their graves” at the prospect of Clara Morgane being, ahem, in bed with the Cazanove Champagne brand. Despite the time that’s gone by already, the Count is still “shocked” and calls the situation completely “scandalous.” “How could anyone associate the name of my illustrious family to that of Clara Morgane? It’s inconceivable.” So, he is suing to prevent the brand partnership. The court is expected to rule on January 9th.

But it’s actually been some time since the Cazanove family actually owned the Cazanove Champagne brand. Actually, it’s been almost half a century since they sold it to Martini & Rossi. Champagne GH Martel currently owns Cazanove Champagne. Cazanove Champagne announced their partnersip with Morgane last year and even launched a rosé bearing her name this past November. It retails for about 50 Euros. So far, sales have been just fine.

“To help design its new Cuvée Brut Rosé, Champagne Charles de Cazanove has called in a celebrity who best conveys the idea of sensuality, generosity, pleasure and elegance … indeed, an evocation of the House style,” wrote the company in a statement. The former porn star Morgane has taken the high road in response to the frivolous aristocrat’s lawsuit. She has only stated that the Count should perhaps question the will of his ancestors, before they sold their name to someone else. That’s code for, your grandfather whored out your name a while ago.
