Geralt of Rivia is confirmed to be in the newest tale of Souls and Swords, which is a surprisingly good choice. What strange characters are bound to eventually join the game’s roster?  The franchise of Soul Calibur is a strange one. It began as an absurdly dark series with incredible gameplay choices in a world of vanilla fighting games, and kept getting better with each addition. A second game came out, and it was good. A third came out, and it was… good too? Weird. But then our fears were realized: a fourth game came out, and somehow it was not only poor, but has bizarre choices for unlockable characters in the form of Star Wars characters.

WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT CRAPPY CHARACTERS, ANYWAY

The fifth game featured a semi-believable choice of an Assassins’ Creed protagonist, but still did not provide enjoyable enhancements. All believed that the franchise was over, but the news has arrived that it’s not only good, but its unlockable character is Geralt of Rivia, a very world-appropriate addition. These two wise choices are out of character for the development team. The following characters are still bound to show up at some point:

The series had some bad years of trying very hard to appeal to angsty DeviantArt users. It seems that the reigns are in the right hands now, but this series has also made me scared to love again. We’ll see.
