Singapore Arrests Man With Ticket for Walking Wife to Gate

SINGAPORE ARRESTS MAN FOR BUYING A PLANE TICKET JUST TO WALK HIS WIFE TO GATE

So much for romance.  A man bought a (hopefully refundable) ticket so that he could walk his wife to the gate for her flight.  But the problem?  He had no intention of flying anywhere.  But evidently, that’s a big no-no in Singapore.  So take note, if people do this, there will be arrests.  And yes, Singapore police arrested this romantic fool for the offense of buying a plane ticket he had no intention to use.  So if you want to say good-bye to your special someone, make sure you do it at the security gate.  Seriously.

MAN FACES BIG FINE AND UP TO TWO YEARS IN JAIL FOR ROMANTIC GOODBYE

So what’s the deal with this?  Well, security, I would assume.  But the local law has some serious teeth.  If you go into the gate areas but don’t intend to actually fly anywhere, you will go to jail.  But that’s not all!  You can have a fine of over $14,000 USD.  And as for the jail time?  You can go to jail for as much as two years!  That’s pretty stiff.  Authorities there call it the Singapore Infrastructure Protection Act.  And they really, really mean it.  So far in 2019, police have arrested 33 people for violating this (bad?) Act.

BUT THE NEW TERMINAL DOES SEEM WORTH VISITING, JUST BE SURE TO FLY OUT

But aside from this awful, completely unromantic law, the airport sounds really nice.  The Changi Airport’s new terminal opened this past April.  It’s such an amazing spectacle that it received coverage across the world.  But why?  Well, it has a waterfall nearly 50 yards tall.  It’s the largest in the world, by the way.  The terminal also sports a 14,000 square meter Canopy Park.  It has mazes, a topiary as well as a suspension bridge.  Ow, wait.  It also has one of the region’s largest indoor gardens with over 3,000 trees and 60,000 smaller plants.

But if you want to see it.  Buy a ticket.  And then fly out.  The alternative sucks.
