BECAUSE DONALD TRUMP WILL BE THERE, THERE WILL BE A GUN BAN AT 2022 NRA SHINDIG
Friday May 27th is the day that the NRA will have their 2022 shindig, event, public fluffing, whatever you want to call it. And, yet again, it’s happening shortly after yet another mass shooting in the United States. You can’t have escaped the news, as a lone gunman killed 21 people at a Texas elementary school. 19 of those victims were, of course, children. I’m one of those people choking on outrage. Trying to avoid thinking about it because the only immediate emotional place to go is despair. Because while we could easily protect our children, we won’t. We don’t. Over and over again. And I’m having another spike in my outrage because the NRA event will have a gun ban. You know, to protect Donald Trump.

NRA SHINDIG WITH GUN BAN JUST DAYS AFTER SCHOOL SHOOTING IN SAME STATE
But this isn’t ironic. Not at all. It’s the do what I say, not what I do. But with guns. Conceal carry guns. Guns bought with no background checks. Guns with no waiting period. No irony there, not at all. But cold, deadly iron? The NRA wants that everywhere else. Just not at their shindig with Donald Trump. Suddenly, guns are dangerous items that need to stay out of the Annual NRA event, this year in Houston, Texas. Yes, Texas of course. It’s almost like God wants us to note the NRA’s annual celebration of empowered domination a few hours’ drive and a few days away from another horrific mass shooting. He just might be suggesting that we wake up and issue our own commandment, about guns.

Sure, the NRA is also banning knives, ammunition, laser pointers, pepper spray and a host of other things, too. But guns for sure. The actual list for the shindig is really, really long and includes things you’d never think of yourself. That might be an ethnography I do later, as it really highlights the (group) MAGA mind, the NRA mind. And sure, this is a Secret Service requirement, especially in open carry states like Texas. But I still can’t fathom a more grand example of no, not irony-maybe shamelessness. And here I go, signing off with the gray wings of despair stirring the breeze.
Because in the end, we keep allowing ourselves to be helpless to the NRA lobby, and Republican Senators who forgot their morals at the door to their own whorehouse. And people, and KIDS, keep dying.
