United States Senate Republicans, Thy Name is Heretofore Cowardice

SURPRISING NO ONE AT ALL, THE UNITED STATES SENATE SHALL HERETOFORE HAVE THE NAME, COWARDICE

What a bad day.  So much for faith in the Republic, tradition and supposed American values.  And no, this is not histrionics.  This is merely one citizen’s voice, calling out into our contemporary maelstrom, yet another voice unrepresented by a callous, United States Senate comprised of Republicans whose souls are undermined by cowardice.  And yes, that is a terrible thing to behold.  But despite the utter lack of surprise, I still find myself enervated because I still had hope.  But who was I fooling?  Well, myself, obviously.  Republicans in the Senate have lined up behind Mitch McConnell and will not vote their collective conscious to allow witnesses to be called in the impeachment of Donald Trump.  But there’s more than just that.

COWARDICE, NO RULE OF LAW, FOREIGN INTERESTS NOW OFFICIALLY THE LAW OF THE LAND

So here’s the deal.  Senate Republicans are now desperately trying to qualify their cowardice.  The method, message and degree just depends on their respective constituents.  But I’d like to call out Lamar Alexander in particular.  Lamar is retiring at the end of his proximate, final term.  So he has nothing to lose.  Well, excepting his soul and place in history, of course.  Lamar in the last 36 hours made it clear that there was no need to call witnesses.  Why, you might ask?  Because Lamar concedes that everything Trump was impeached for is, in fact, true.  So why ask witnesses to appear to further collaborate?  But, Lamar proclaims, nothing Trump did is a crime, nor an abuse of power.  No, really.

REPUBLICANS’ COWARDICE HAS SOLD OUR COLLECTIVE FUTURE FOR SHORT TERM POWER

So yes, Lamar Alexander is not alone in this idea.  Bribes?  Ok.  Interfering with Congressionally mandated funds for personal gain?  No problemo.  Stonewalling Congress?  That’s just fine.  Because Trump now owns the Republican Party.  And the Republican Party owns Trump in return.  But why is this happening?  How can this Senate Republican cowardice allow them to abandon their Constitutional duty, and the Constitution itself?  Power.  Power that is leaving them no matter what.  Because the voting nation is getting ever more younger, and ever more diverse.  So packing as many federal judges is key for the next 20 years or so.  Gutting regulations to allow big business to harvest a locust’s share of profit at the expense of everyone else is the highest priority.  It’s very scary stuff.

And yes, I’m still surprised this is happening.  Cowardice always gets its just reward.  Always.  But we still need to be brave enough to vote our own conscious this November. And every election after.
