THAI WOMAN BARELY SURVIVES 2 HOURS OF TERROR AFTER 16-FOOT PYTHON ATTACK IN HER KITCHEN
Why did it have to be snakes? It’s a question immortalized by Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark from 43 years ago. But all pulp references (on a plane) aside, it’s not a bad idea to have a healthy respect for snakes. Perhaps even fear. And hearing this story will surely shift your sentiments more to the latter, and has perhaps even put me off from keeping a visit to Thailand on my bucket list. Last week, a 64-year-old Thai woman was doing nothing more interesting than being in her own kitchen in Samut Prakan, Thailand. Yet it was there that a 16-foot python bit her, wouldn’t let her go, and coiled around her, trapping her fighting for her life for 2 hours.

PYTHON CAUSED THAI WOMAN TO FALL, AND GOT AN EVEN BETTER GRIP TO SQUEEZE
The poor woman and very nearly snake food, Arom Arunroj, was cleaning up after she had diner and went to clean dishes. But as soon as she was at the sink, the python struck, biting her. And as soon as she looked to see what was happening, the snake was already coiling around her torso, getting a grip to constrict her to death. So she grabbed it by the head only to have the snake squeeze even tighter, causing her to fall to the floor, helpless. She cried for help for what seemed forever, but no neighbors heard her. She was almost out of energy fighting to stay alive 2 hours later when she made one last desperate attempt.

SOMEONE FINALLY HEARD HER TWO HOURS LATER, BUT IT STILL TOOK ANOTHER 30 MINUTES TO FREE HER
Fortunately, someone did hear her and called authorities to help. But when police and medics arrived, the snake wasn’t interested in letting go. That’s the only explanation as to why it took the woman’s rescuers over half an hour to get the python off of her. But they couldn’t simply pry it off. The snake was too large and powerful. It took a lot of determined hits with a crowbar to the snake’s head to finally get it to release its death grip. But this is where the story gets a bit scarier. As soon as the snake let go, authorities released it into the forest behind her home! Somehow, this poor Thai woman survived, only needing treatment for “several” non-venomous snake bites.
