In New Predator Movie, Prey: There’s No Getting to the Chopper!

NO CHOPPER ESCAPE FOR COMANCHE NATION IN NEW PREDATOR MOVIE, PREY

Get to the Chopper!  It’s a classic line from the original Predator movie, delivered as only Ahnold can deliver.  And while there was no chopper escape in the sequel with Danny Glover, there certainly could have been.  And now, at last, we finally have another Predator movie with the forthcoming Prey, starring Amber Midthunder and (10 Cloverfield Lane) director Dan Trachtenberg.  But Prey takes the Predator 300 years in the past, where there are no choppers to run to.  Even more, it’s 300 years in the past in the Comanche Nation.  That’s right, indigenous Americans with no guns, armor or explosives to use against an advanced, monstrous alien on safari.  Predator clearly has the advantage.

COMING OUT ON 8/5 ON HULU, PREY WILL INCLUDE FULL DUB IN COMANCHE LANGUAGE

Prey is set to come out on Hulu on August 5th.  But now that I know about it, I can barely wait for this next (far earlier) chapter in the Predator series.  And no, I don’t really count the Alien vs Predator flicks.  But Prey takes this in such a different direction and hopefully opens the door to many other story lines, in different places and times.  But Prey will have something done in development never done before: it will have a full Comanche language dub.  As in, the actors themselves did a full dub of the movie in their native language!

PREY SET TO OFFER GREAT FUN FOR EVEN WIDER AUDIENCE THAN BEFORE, STILL NO CHOPPER

Why is that important?  Well, consider that there are only a few movies that now have a dub in an indigenous American language, and both of those are only Navajo; Star Wars IV and Finding Nemo.  Just think about how amazing it is for indigenous children to be able to watch a huge blockbuster in their own language!  And now, there’s a brand-new Predator movie ready to watch in Comanche on release!  It’s about time.  I can only imagine how excited today’s Comanche Nation is to see Prey, and actors representing them in their own language.

Oh, and did I mention that one of the Producers is Jhane Myer, of Comanche and Blackfoot heritage?  This movie represents!
