Pizza Better Breakfast for You Than Cereals Full of Sugar

Pizza Better Breakfast for You Than Cereals Full of Sugar

YES, EATING PIZZA FOR BREAKFAST IS BETTER THAN ALL THESE SUGAR CEREALS

So is this really a surprise?  Or is it just vindication to everyone who loves pizza?  But isn’t that everyone who’s ever had pizza?  Sure, I know, that’s a bit cheeky and presumptive.  But this idea that pizza is a better breakfast for you than bowls full of sugar cereals is interesting.  It may even be a little disturbing.  But that’s because most of us go to the store, open the box and proceed to eat whatever the hell those mystery ingredients are.  That’s certainly true for these cereals full of sugar and so much else.  But pizza?  Pizza is… pizza.  Cheese, tomato, flour, some water, salt, olive oil and let’s not forget the yeast.  That’s pizza!  No mystery.

DAIRY, SALT AND TOMATOES ARE MUCH BETTER THAN DEADLY, PROCESSED SUGAR

So if you don’t do dairy too much, that cheese can be a hassle.  If you can’t eat gluten, that changes the dynamic a little, too.  And sure, tomatoes are a nightshade.  But they are hell on yummy and have some vitamins, to boot.  So pizza is pretty much a known quantity.  It tastes good.  It’s not that bad for you.  Some would even argue it’s pretty good for you!  But cereals full of sugar?  For now, let’s forget about all the mystery ingredients that tend to be in these cereals.  We can just talk about the sugar.  But by sugar, we’re talking LOTS of sugar.  Processed sugars just aren’t good for you.  But in high amounts, they are really, really bad for you as well.

BUT YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO KNOW WHAT’S IN YOUR FOOD, AND IT AIN’T EASY

So say you have one of these sugar cereals for breakfast.  You feel jazzed and you’re satisfied.  But then that sugar spike in your blood becomes a crash and that sets the tone for the rest of your day.  It causes a whole series of reactions in your blood, and your brain.  Plus, for most of these cereals there’s not much else of substance beyond grains.  No protein.  No other blood sugar stabilizer.  But in contrast a slice of pizza in the morning won’t set off that sugar crash.  It will actually give your body more to “chew on” at the chemical and energy level.  So yes, I’m saying pizza is a far superior breakfast to sugar cereals.  But remember, not all pizzas are created equally.  Make sure you know what you’re eating!
