Peacock Named Pea Runs Away for Turkey Love

PEA THE PEACOCK ESCAPES LOOKING FOR TURKEY LOVE, PA NUB

Thanksgiving is over and I can now write guilt free about weird stories with turkeys.  Ok, it is from the lovely Green Mountain State of Vermont.  It’s a comfortably kooky state.  But this story is just a little more kooky than normal.  There is a Peacock and his name is Pea.  Pea, the Peacock, ran away from home.  Why would this colorful foul do such a thing?  Because he was looking for love.  Turkey love, to be exact.  This all came to light in the last couple weeks.  His owner, Rene Johnson, became concerned after he had been gone some time.

PEA’S OWNER SCARED LOVE WON’T KEEP PEA WARM IN VERMONT WINTER

Rene wrote an email to the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department, saying, “My peacock has run off with the turkeys. Do you have any suggestions on how to catch the little twerp?? I do not believe they can breed……concerned. I know where he is most days. Any information would be appreciated!”  Rene had become desperate by then as temperatures were dropping below freezing.  Pea, evidently, had become lonely after the death of his fellow peacock.  Rene also owns chickens, but they are foul company for a Peacock.  So how did this come to be?

AFTER PEA LOST HIS FRIEND, HE WENT LOOKING FOR TURKEY LOVE IN WILD PLACES

It is a weird story, right?  What drives a peacock to look for turkey love?  Rene explained to media, “Pea was looking for love. The chickens weren’t impressed with him.  My neighbor could see Pea down on her land trying to flirt with the turkeys and one day he disappeared. We feared he was eaten by a predator until we heard his [call] in the distance. He never returned home.”  People have given Rene updates about Pea sightings and his location.  But so far no one has been able to catch the rascal.  Rene even had a brief reunion with Pea and he ate some bread out of her hand.  But the slippery peacock got away from Rene.  But somehow, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush just seems….. awkward here.

So let’s all hope this wild foray for turkey love ends with the SweetPea safe at home, eh?
