PARKING ARGUMENT ESCALATES AS TWO MEN FIGHT, WITH A SWORD
People become pretty angry when they drive. We call that road rage. But people can also get pretty bent out of shape when it comes to parking spots. But they don’t usually end up doing more than just fighting. How about pulling out a sword? That’s what happened in Somerset County two weeks ago. Well, maybe not a just a sword. There was a 4-foot contractor’s level, too. That’s pretty much the same thing. Weird, right? The fight happened about a week ago near Knopf Street and North 9th Avenue in Manville at about 10:30 in the evening. But as parking spot fights go, it was totally Highlander. There can be only one. Seriously, what men fight with swords these days? It was just a parking argument.

DON’T ARGUE WITH A HIGHLANDER OR HE’LL CUT YOU UP
The two men fighting it out were 40-year-old Jared Razzano and an unidentified 40-year-old man. The two were arguing that night over a parking spot near Razzano’s home. But then the fight got physical. The unidentified man was carrying a 4-foot contractor’s level when they started arguing. But when it got physical he hit Razzano several times “resulting in several bruises and abrasions to his back, face, arm and leg,” according to Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson. But that’s when it got medieval. Razzano then pulled a real, bonafide sword from his car and “retaliated by slashing the victim several times with the sword. The slashing caused the victim serious bodily injuries to his head and arm.”

SWORDSMAN FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES FOR CARVING UP PARKING OPPONENT
The prosecutor may now charge Razzano with second-degree aggravated assault. There will likely be several other charges as well. Police took Razzano to the Somerset County Jail. The sword caused the other man deep cuts to his head as well as his arm. But Roberston also said he “also had one of his fingers nearly severed as a result of the assault.” Authorities took the man to an area trauma center and report that he was in stable condition. Maybe that’s why the other charges will likely be third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose as well as fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
So if you find yourself arguing with a stranger about anything, try not to lose your head.
