MY OPEN LOVE LETTER TO IKEA, IT’S THE MECCA
I don’t know how many people write open love letters to IKEA, but I’m pretty sure it’s just me and I’m also pretty sure more people should get to writing. Everybody loves the Mecca IKEA, I’m just the only person brave enough to shout it from the rooftops. I LOVE IKEAAAAAA!! And I really do. I think about them all the time. So here is my open, public, love letter to the place we all know and love: IKEA.
It feels like I’ve known you forever and also like we’ve only just met. You are a part of some of my earliest memories, and yet I never get tired of you, even now. I feel incredibly lucky to know you, to have known you, and I never want to live in a world that does not have you in it.
I remember looking forward to the days when I would get to see you. I would smell those Swedish meatballs and know I was home. My entire way of seeing the world has been shaped by you and in your image. Without you, how would I ever have discovered my love of natural blonde wood?
IKEA, you are everything to me. You are bookshelves, you are storage bins, you are glassware, you are soft-serve ice cream cones. Your blue and yellow bags have helped me shoulder my responsibilities as an adult, which include doing laundry and moving.
I will never be able to thank you enough for all you have done for me. I hope that I am able, someday, to repay you by regularly making purchases in stores and online from your ever-broadening catalogue items.
You mean the world to me, IKEA; I can’t forget you, and I never will. Because you literally are the bed I sleep in, the table I eat at, the utensils I cook with, the shower curtains I see in the morning, and so much more.
I love you,
