OAKLAND LEGALIZES SHROOMS, PEYOTE AND MORE, OH MY!
Well, hell. Do I have to become a Raiders fan, now? Because being a Raiders fan is a serious trip. But now, Oakland is going all in with real, organic trips. How? The city is legalizing organic psychoactives like shrooms, peyote and “entheogenic plants” overall. So say what? You’re square and have no idea what I’m talking about? Well, shrooms are likely the most popular. They contain the compound, psilocybin, which is a psychoactive agent. If you consume shrooms, you will have a trip, or a very altered perception of reality. So if you’re a Raiders fan, you already know how this feels in general.

RAIDERS FANS NOW HAVE A LOT OF PEEPS WITH ALTERED REALITIES
But now, the city of Oakland just became the American capital of the legal trip. So you can take a trip to Oakland and then take another….. trip, of sorts. It was just last week that Oakland’s City Council voted on the resolution legalizing organic trips. Well, they voted unanimously. So this isn’t just a fantasy or wishful satire from the Onion. So how is this going to work? Well, the city’s priorities for policing are now totally different. The city will no longer spend any money “to assist in the enforcement of laws imposing criminal penalties for the use and possession of Entheogenic Plants by adults.” Even further, investigations for the growing, purchasing, selling or possession of these organics “shall be amongst the lowest law enforcement priority for the City of Oakland.”
BUT! ALL OF THESE ARE STILL ILLEGAL UNDER STATE AND FEDERAL LAW
So what’s going on, here? Well, history, for one. Many cultures have used these substances for centuries in their practices. But we now also know that they can help people suffering from addictive substance abuse, PTSD and even anxiety. So you can bet your damn apples that Big Pharma will be against any natural remedies that impacts their profit margins. But let’s also not forget something pretty important, here. The state of California and the Federal Government still consider all of these organics to be illegal. So there is sure to be some interesting conflict! It will, indeed, be a trip.
