NYC Commuters Getting Extra Charge With Apple Pay

APPLE PAY DOUBLE CHARGING NYC COMMUTERS JUST BY WALKING BY TURNSTILE

So I don’t commute on the NYC subway or bus system anymore.  But I did for quite a number of years.  I don’t miss it.  But if this was happening to me, I’d be pretty damn furious.  As it is, I don’t like the MTA too much.  Why?  Well, it’s not a city association, for one.  It’s run under the governor’s office, in Albany.  So yes, there’s some serious corruption there.  A single ride costs $2.75!  I mean, come on.  The first 50 years the subway cost a grand total of five cents a ride.  And today, things are increasingly automated.  Today, people can use Apple Pay from their iPhones.  But the problem?  The MTA is charging double them for just walking by a turnstile!

OMNY ENABLED APPLE PAY IN FIVE OTHER WORLD METRO CITIES, WITH NO PROBLEMS

So I’ll admit, I am still (mostly) an Apple fan.  I like the phones and how easy it is to use pretty much everything.  But Apple is now one of those rich giants that doesn’t like paying taxes in today’s Gilded Age.  So who to blame?  Apple, or NY state’s MTA?  Well, let’s see.  Where else can people pay with the OMNY this way?  Beijing, Shanghai, London, Portland, and Tokyo.  And how many people have said they had this problem in any of those cities?  None.  So in five major international cities, no one has had this problem.  That seems to clear Apple.  Well, if you were sure to update your iPhone to iOS 12.3, anyway.

WHO TO BLAME, CHRIS CUOMO, APPLE PAY, OR OMNY?  I CHOOSE CUOMO, JUST BECAUSE

So what gives, State of New York Mass Transit Association and OMNY managers?  If this is only happening in NYC, there’s something afoot.  And you better figure it out soon.  Why?  Because the MTA has plans to use the OMNY system all across the 5 boroughs by the end of 2020.  So who do I blame?  Well, Chris Cuomo, of course.  I don’t like the governor one bit.  Even though the MTA has been a system devoted to sucking money out of NYC residents and sending them to Upstate buddies for decades.  For now, I’ll still hold off activating my Apple Pay.
