Russia Won’t Tell NASA Why There Was a Hole in Soyuz Spacecraft

RUSSIA KNOWS WHY THERE WAS A HOLE LEAKING AIR ON THE ISS, BUT THEY WON’T TELL NASA

So you may remember.  This past August, we heard about a hole in the International Space Station.  Well, it wasn’t actually in the ISS.  But there was a hole in the Soyuz Spacecraft docked to the ISS.  So yeah, a hole in space is, um, really bad.  Quite a bit of air leaked out of the ISS, into the Soyuz Spacecraft and out into space.  You know, the air that astronauts, cosmonauts, etc. need to breathe?  But we already knew that the hole seemed to be the kind that someone would drill.  It wasn’t a design flaw and wasn’t caused by space trash or such.  So it was, and is, a mystery.  Well, at least it’s a mystery to NASA and to us.  But Russia knows.  And they won’t tell us why.

DID SOMEONE DRILL A HOLE IN THE SOYUZ SPACECRAFT, DOCKED TO THE ISS. LEAKING EVERYONE’S AIR?

Well, to be specific, the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos knows.  But that pretty much means Russia.  The only commentary we have is from Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Roscosmos.  He attended the all-Russian science conference, “Orbit of Youth.”  While there, he told everyone, “There must be some secret with us.”  Huh.  Ok.  Well, not ok.  You guys need to have secrets?  Shit, who doesn’t?  But the ISS is a cooperative endeavor.  If you know why there was a hole in your spacecraft, you better tell us why.  Because that air belongs to everyone up there.  And that ain’t no secret, savvy?  What happened to that Soyuz?

IF THE RUSSIANS WON’T EXPLAIN, MAYBE THE WORLD NEEDS BETTER PARTNERS IN SPACE

But regardless, the Soyuz is one really functional spacecraft.  Its design is not even remotely new.  But it works and works well.  Well, when it’s not full of holes someone drilled into it, anyway.  So what’s the deal?  Was this an embarrassing accident?  Did someone commit sabotage?  Is there some other reason?  Well, we don’t know.  And the Russians aren’t saying.  It’s not exactly the kind of thing that makes astronauts too confident, don’t you know.  But who know?  Maybe one of those private space passenger ventures will really get off the ground soon.  Then the Russians can go stick their mystery hole Soyuz…. In a hole, so to speak.
