Minorities Can Use a Siri App, I’m Getting Pulled Over, Records Video

NEW SIRI APP MAY OFFER SOME PEACE OF MIND FOR MINORITIES, EVERYONE, WHEN POLICE PULL THEM OVER

So how many times can you remember something bad happening to someone who’s a minority when police pull them over?  Just a couple weeks ago, a minority man and member of the military suffered horrendous treatment from two cops.  He pulled over in a bright gas station to help protect himself.  And it’s a good thing he did.  But what if there’s nowhere to pull over with lights and witnesses?  Well, there’s a Siri app, “I’m Getting Puled Over,” that just might help.  And yes, it records video, too.  But it does more than that.

SIRI APP HAS THE NAME “I’M GETTING PULLED OVER,” IS REALLY EASY TO USE

So cops hate traffic stops.  Why?  Because they’re dangerous.  But that fear cops have makes cops more dangerous, too.  And, well, more authoritarian.  Comply!  Comply and you’ll be fine!  Except, many minorities in the United States have cause to believe they won’t be, no matter what they do.  So the “I’m Getting Pulled Over” Siri app makes it really simple.  If police pull you over, you activate the app’s shortcut, which prompts several things.  It starts recording video, sure.  But it also activates your phone’s Do Not Disturb feature, while sending your exact location to any designated contacts you set it up to.

WHAT’S WRONG WITH RECORDING POLICE WITH A SIRI APP, THEY ARE AFTER ALL PUBLIC SERVANTS

So if this sounds like something silly to you, I imagine you are a white person.  Well, so am I.  But I think it’s necessary for a lot of people, but especially minorities, almost anywhere in America.  And there’s certainly no harm in it.  Think about it, police are public servants, right?  So recording their conduct should be a no brainer.  No harm, no foul.  And being able to use Siri to launch this app means anyone who has it on their phone knows they have some protection from whichever Boss Hogg pulls them over on a rural country road.  Peace of mind is a priceless thing, and this Siri app might bring some of that.  At worst, it will bring accountability when that peace of mind disappears under an authoritarian’s flat foot.
