Megan Fox Ditches the Sexy, Transforms to Serious Actor

MEGAN FOX DITCHES SEXY PAST FOR SERIOUS ACTING CAREER

We all know who Megan Fox is.  She was (is?) a former bombshell who rocked Hollywood with tight abs, pursed lips and just a few other perfect things.  But Megan is now 32 years old and the mother of two.  Being in your 30’s changes things.  But having 2 kids changes everything.  So it certainly looks like things have changed, as Megan ditches sexy starlet roles and looks for something more, shall we say, possibly substantive.  Off with the lingerie (well, hell yes anyway) and on with the plain tweed.  Or, at least, for her new role starring as a war correspondent.

MEGAN FOX TO PLAY MARGUERITE HIGGINS, TRAILBLAZING FEMALE WAR CORRESPONDENT

The word dowdy doesn’t get much play on the American side of the pond, but that is surely how anyone with bad teeth who eats boring toast would describe that blond, wig “do.”  But actually, I barely recognize the youthful hottie from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Transformers movies.  But I suppose that is the entire point.  Consider who Megan is playing, here.  That would be the amazing and historic figure, Marguerite Higgins.  Higgins was a war correspondent for the old New York Herald Tribune.  She covered WWII, He Korean War and the Vietnam War.  Higgins was one of those amazing women back when few women were allowed to be amazing.

HIGGINS WON THE PULITZER IN 1951 FOR KOREAN WAR COVERAGE

So Megan Fox taking this role is a huge step.  The above picture is of Fox on set in Chuncheon, South Korea.  They are shooting the period when Higgins covered the Battle of Jangsari.  Higgins was the first woman reporter who won a Pulitzer Prize for Foreign Correspondence.  She won that for her coverage of the Korean Was and received the prize in 1951.  1951!  Consider just how long ago that was.  Do you remember any other women so acknowledged for their achievements in media back then?  But of course not.  That’s because Higgins paved the way and blazed a trail for other women to follow.

So good for you, Megan.  We look forward to seeing your acting chops for real, now.
