Margaret Thatcher’s Bronze Statue Gets Long Line of Egg Throwers

BRONZE STATUE OF IRON LADY MARGARET THATCHER DRAWS THOUSANDS TO THROW EGGS

So I know it’s the year 2020 and it’s been a long time since we really had to think about previous public figures like Margaret Thatcher.  If your brain has a question mark appearing over it that means you weren’t around so much 2 to 3 decades ago.  She was the Prime Minister of England, aka Great Britain, for many many years.  Her nickname was the Iron Lady.  She was unusual for a host of reasons.  One, she was a woman. Two, she was a woman head of state.  Three, she was the first two for a damn long, tumultuous time.  And she’s about to have the honor of having a Bronze statue.  And yet, a long line of people have signed up to throw eggs at the unveiling ceremony.

MARGARET THATCHER’S STATUE UNVEILING CEREMONY COST $133,000, AND LOCALS ARE PISSED

No, really.  The statue will reside in the South Kesteven District.  And people are not too happy about it.  Because of the Iron Lady’s memory?  Well, maybe some.  But they’re definitely pissed that the unveiling ceremony will cost $133,000.  During a pandemic.  And locals are pissed at the local council for approving that kind of expense.  Especially for Margaret Thatcher. They seem to have other priorities for that kind of public monies.  So much so, that over 2,000 people have signed up to attend, just to throw eggs at the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher, bronze statue.  Now that is what we call old school disapproval in action.

FROM IRON TO BRONZE, THE MEMORY OF MARGARET THATCHER CONTINUES TO OUTRAGE

But guess what’s even funnier?  The $402,300 statue already included plans to go up on a ten-foot high plinth.  Why?  To prevent vandalism.  Because that’s the kind of protection the Iron Lady needs in perpetuity.  And, not to get into it too much, the Iron Lady’s memory deserves this kind of attention.  To be fair, thousands of people lining up to throw eggs at an icon of her memory is the least I could expect.  If you still have that question mark over your head, use the Google: Margaret Thatcher.  But now, the Iron lady is become Bronze.  And eggs sunny-side everywhere.
