Lady Doritos Becomes Viral Sensation With Crunchless Chips

PEOPLE FREAKING OUT OVER DORITOS FAKE NEWS, VIRAL SENSATION

There has been a buzz the last few days.  Not the best buzz.  Basically, more angry women everywhere and they are not pleased with the viral rumors. It spread like mad on social media, but isn’t necessarily true.  This story took a life of its own and it continues to grow.  It’s all about “Lady Doritos”.  PepsiCo, which owns Doritos, is trying to put a big clamp on the rumors spreading about Lady Doritos.  The world may just see crunchless chips on the way for the ladies who don’t like to… crunch in public.  But what’s the truth?  Are Lady Doritos really happening?  PepsiCo isn’t saying.  Or are they?

ARE LADY DORITOS A REAL THING? CRUNCHLESS CHIPS ON THE WAY?

It’s been getting pretty serious out in cyberspace.  Debates are emerging about this Lady Doritos idea.  Why associate a gender with a chip?  According to some of PepsiCo’s research women would like to be able to lick their fingers in public while they eat their Doritos but don’t.  They don’t because it’s messy.  They would also like to crunch the chips without actually making a crunching sound.  But that’s impossible.  Wait, maybe it’s not if Doritos made a crunchless Lady Doritos.  Which they won’t be making any time soon, despite rumors to the contrary.

DORITOS SPOKESPERSON DENIES EVERY SINGLE LADY DORITOS RUMOR

A spokesperson explained, “The reporting on a specific Doritos product for female consumers is inaccurate.  We already have Doritos for women – they’re called Doritos, and they’re enjoyed by millions of people every day.”  And then the spokesperson addresses the issue of needs and preferences.  Basically, they denied they were developing Lady Doritos.  But if it gets enough traction with the unexpected viral sensation, they might want to do it.

GUERILLA MARKET RESEARCH? OR RANDOM SENSATION OPPORTUNITY?

Gang, if by chance this was leaked by PepsiCo in an attempt to further their market research, they did a great job!  It created a seed and then a buzz, which is a terrific strategy.  Maybe they will sneak a few Lady Doritos when no one is watching.  It’s incredible when social media spreads like wildfire.  But so far, there’s no way to tell if this came out of left field, or if PepsiCo seeded this to see what the reaction would be.  Too bad the Super Bowl was yesterday!  Just imagine what the Lady Dorito commercials could have been like!
