Tiny Kitten Born With No But, Needs Help to Survive

LITTLE KITTY WILL NOT SURVIVE WITH NO BUTTHOLE

This is another story that is a surprise.  Has anyone ever heard of any creature born missing a functional anus?  Or that it is a condition with a name and happens from time to time?  This writer certainly didn’t.  But Cluck is name of the kitten in this story, who was recently rescued from the streets of LA with her mother and litter mates.  Poor Cluck was born without a functional butthole, a condition which is called an imperforate anus.  Obviously, this is a life-threatening condition that the kitten will need help with to survive including surgery.

What this means is that both Cluck’s urine and feces will come out of the same hole, as explained by Shawn Simons of the street cat rescue clinic, Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats.  As Cluck’s condition was discovered just a few days ago, she will need corrective surgery very soon or she will die.  If this disturbs you like it does me, you will be happy to know that Simons is attempting to raise money for the needed surgery using a Crowdrise campaign, “Kitty Needs A Butthole.”

SURGERY TO CREATE WORKING BUTTHOLE RISKY, BUT CLUCK A KEEPER

“Right now, she’s nursing off her mom, so her poop is very liquidy,” Simons told media. “When she gets on harder food, it will be impossible for poop to pass through.”  Simons has hopes $4,000 can be raised in the next week so Cluck can get the anus she needs to survive.  “We would first need to get an MRI to see how extensive the problem is, and to see where her intestines connect,” she said.

While the surgery is risky, Simons feels that Cluck is a good candidate.  “She’s gaining weight and seems healthy other than not having the butthole,” she said.

As of this writing, the kitty keister campaign had raised just under $8,000.00, which should foot the bill and more. Simons said anything beyond the $4,000 for Cluck will be used to help the other cats in her facility, “even those that have buttholes.”
