The holiday break is a good time to catch up on the culture in your city.  What spells culture more than visiting a museum?  New York City has amazing museums, and playgrounds to see and enjoy.  Here are just a few children’s museums for you to consider taking the kids to.  If your kids like art, the science of farts and the history of gross, as in Gross Biology, as well as, hands on activities – why don’t you spend a little bit of your free time in a few of the places below.  But pay attention, a children’s museum can be an amazing day trip you can do over and over again!

These are seriously some of the best children’s museum to take your kids to if you are living in or just visiting New York City. The Children’s Museum of Manhattan is a terrific place to learn about culture, history and science.  It’s geared for children six and under. This museum hosts all kinds of workshops ranging in Gross Biology.  That means kids who like gross things, like burps, farts and germs – this workshop is for them!  They also offer toddler music programs and much more.

GET REAL CANDY IN A PRETEND STORE

It’s a bit of hike, but The Brooklyn Children’s Museum is specifically made for kids. It is a vast and comprehensive museum with about thirty thousand objects in its permanent collection, including dolls, fossils, masks and musical instruments. There are a lot of hands on activities for children to participate in, such as, weighing ingredients in make believe stores, kneading pretend dough in a Mexican Bakery or shop for real candy in an International Grocery Store. There isn’t any Gross Biology here, but still plenty of fun to be had.

ARTISTIC EXPRESSION FOR TEN MONTH OLDS

The Children’s Museum of the Arts is the art world designed for kids to explore.  It’s totally geared just for them.  This large institution has approximately two thousand pieces in their collection, including international children’s art.  Artist lead all kids of workshops ranging in media labs focusing of sound, video making and the ultimate clay bar.  Their programs foster artistic expression in as young as ten months old.  They also have day camps that target the six to fifteen age range, where kids learn how to draw and sculpt. There are also many interactive displays, and hands on activities which makes the trip into more of an amazing event.
