KEANU REEVES IS AN AWESOME STAR AND HAS BEEN FOR SOME TIME, HERE’S PROOF!
Keanu Reeves is just a good dude. It’s pretty simple. Sure, I already like the guy. For a time, I thought Bill & Ted was his best role. But then there was Dracula and I was out. But then there was Speed and I thought oh, ok. Then, of course, there was the Matrix and pretty much everyone knew what was up. But that was way before we heard all these nice stories about Keanu and what an awesome guy this major star was. And this is a story from 18 years ago that somehow flew under the radar. But somehow, it’s swum to the surface even as John Wick 3 wows audiences the world over (and no, dammit, I haven’t seen it yet).
FAN TWEETS STORY OF KEANU’S GENEROSITY FROM 18 YEARS AGO
So how did we miss this story? Well, the fan in question only recently came forward with it. His name is James Dator and he filled us in on Twitter. Dator used to work in a movie theater in Sydney. He recounted that he was working in the box office and, “I’m working the box office, bored as hell and suddenly this dude walks up in jeans, a leather jacket and a horse riding helmet. A full a*s, weird equestrian looking helmet. It takes me a solid 30 seconds to ignore the helmet and realize it’s Keanu Reeves.”
AWESOME STARS LIKE KEANU GO THE EXTRA MILE TO MAKE FANS FEEL THE LOVE
Keanu came to the theater to see the film, From Hell, starring Johnny Depp about Jack the Ripper. But James was like most teens and didn’t know how to ask him for his autograph. So he offered Keanu the employee discount, if he’d only sign the work sheet. But it doesn’t work out when Keanu says, “I don’t work here.” Keanu buys a normally priced ticket and walks away. James then dies inside cause he screwed up and didn’t get his autograph. But then, 2 minutes later, there’s a knock on the box office door. It’s Keanu! James remembers Keanu saying, “I realized you probably wanted my autograph, so I signed this.” He then gave James the receipt from concessions with his autograph on the back. Then he threw an ice cream in the garbage and walked away.
So that’s Keanu for you. He bought an ice cream he didn’t want, just to give a normal, shy, 16-year-old kid his autograph. Now that’s a star.
