Jersey Woman Argues With Cable Worker, Strands Her in the Air

JERSEY WOMAN GOES NUTS, STRANDS CABLE WORKER IN THE AIR

Well, that’s a new one.  New Jersey is the garden state of cat fights.  Last week in Ridgewood a Jersey woman got angry and tried to get even.  Her name is Elena Gerlihman.  The 59-year-old Elena came out of her home and started arguing with an Optimum cable worker.  The lady Optimum employee was up in her cherry picker, working.  Nothing unusual there, except maybe the arguing.  But then Elena turned off the truck, took the keys from the ignition and left the cable worker stranded in the air.  You can’t lower the cherry picker if the engine, and power, are off.  That’s not so usual.  What was Elena thinking?  Who strands someone in the air like that?

STRANDED CABLE WORKER CALLS COPS FOR HELP

But of course the mid-air stranded cable worker had her cell phone.  So she called police to come help her.  Elena, says it never happened.  She said, “She made the story..talk to her.”  But there’s some history here, too.  A local business owner said this has happened before.  Two years ago Elena swiped the keys from an idling delivery truck.  The police responded to the same call, two years ago.  So maybe Elena has got a thing for trucks, idling.  Businesses across from her home say that she complains about trucks left running.  As for Elena, she says, “I have no idea about truck at all.”

Despite Elena’s denial, it seems pretty cut and dry.  Well, maybe hung out to dry.  The Jersey woman will face charges in court this month which will include criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, false imprisonment and harassment.  Optimum’s parent company Altice issued a statement that said, “It is incredibly unfortunate that an individual would try to harm one of our employees while on the job.  We are pleased our employee was not harmed as a result of this incident.”  So thank you New Jersey!  That’s a new one.  Jersey woman strands cable worker in air.  Check.
