JAMES WAN CHOSE AQUAMAN FOR ALL THE OBVIOUS REASONS

Ok, if you live anywhere in the West you likely know about the movie, Aquaman.  But that’s because it hit US theaters onFriday.  Ads are everywhere.  But those ads will still be everywhere, at least for another week.  But you may not know that James Wan directed Aquaman.  You might know him from major hits like Saw and others.  So he’s got some major range!  But when Warner Bros. approached Wan, they gave him a simple choice: direct Aquaman orThe Flash.  And his choice was obvious!

First off, Wan has been an Aquaman fan for a long time.  He told the New York Times, “I did grow up reading comics, but [Aquaman’s] weren’t the ones I read.  Later, as I got older, it became apparent that people out there were making fun of him. Sure, he was somewhat disrespected and made the joke of the superhero world. But I always found him endearing.”  See?  He never lost touch with his roots.  Aquaman was endearing.  But thanks to Wan, we get to explore that on the big screen.

Wan thought that the Flash had been done before.  Truer words are hard to find!  Yes, several someones have done the Flash already.  Plus, the latest actor playing the Flash just doesn’t work.  At all!  But Wan skipped that obvious truth.  Wan looks up to the right directing giants like Spielberg, Cameron, Lucas and Carpenter. So he wanted to go swimming in the creative oceans he saw before him with Aquaman.  So I guess I better get my tickets so I can give a review of the real reel!  But since people are loving it, maybe you should, too.
