HAMBURGER HELPER: HERD OF COWS LEADS NORTH CAROLINA POLICE TO SUSPECT’S HIDING PLACE

Don’t have a cow.  I first heard that saying as a kid, and it still doesn’t really make any sense to me.  But I may have to take another look at that, because this story is too weird to believe.  Last week, police in North Carolina were trying to find a suspect who had gotten away in a rural area.  It started as a standard traffic stop.  But then it quickly became something else when the man took off, to hoof it into the wild.  The man’s name is Joshua Minton.  The 34-year-old abandoned his vehicle to get away from police.  And get away he did.  Right up until a herd of cows helped them find his hiding place.

HIDING SUSPECT FLED POLICE AFTER TRAFFIC STOP, AND HERD OF COWS WASN’T HAVING IT

Minton had been driving too fast and recklessly.  And then he made the extremely poor choice of running from police when they pulled him over.  Ok, sure, it would have been a poorer choice if he had sped away and put everyone’s life in danger.  But cops don’t like having to chase you if you run.  And then they hate it even mooooore (sorry) when they have to search for you, too.  But Minton nearly pulled it off.  That is, until a herd of cows literally led the police to his hiding place which they quite possibly wouldn’t have discovered.

COWS DON’T LOVE INTERLOPERS, AND ASSISTED POLICE IN GETTING THEIR PEACE AND QUIET BACK

Minton had taken off in a remote part of Deep Gap, which makes rural look cosmopolitan.  Minton took off before police had a line on the direction he took.  So the officers were about to have their hands full with what could have been a hopeless effort to find him.  But then the herd of cows appeared.  It seems that cows really don’t like interlopers into their territory, and seemed to know that the sooner the police found Minton, the sooner they’d be able to chew their cud in peace.  Now, Minton faces charges of fleeing arrest with a motor vehicle, driving with a revoked license as well as disorderly conduct.

Possibly, Minton can get some revenge if Burgers are ever on the menu when he serves his time.
