HAPPY (NUPTIALS) MEAL HONG KONG COUPLES MARRY AT MCDONALD’S

Happy Nuptials Meal, anyone? If you happen to live in Hong Kong and are planning on tying the knot, why not get hitched at the Golden Arches? According to CNBC, couples can now choose from a variety of McDonald’s wedding-party deals and then seal their matrimonial bliss with a kiss and a Big Mac.

Before you scoff at the idea, you should take into account two important facts. First off, with marriage packages ranging from just under $400 (the cheapest option) to around $1,300, a wedding ceremony at Mickey D’s can save a couple just starting out a ton of cash. Second, a lot of folks in Hong Kong actually start dating at Ronnie Mac’s Steakhouse, which means a wedding presided over by that hamburger-slinging clown (whether in the flesh or merely his buffoonish spirit) can offer a huge nostalgia factor.

Newlyweds could cut into a deep-dish pie at Pizza Hut and then smear tomato sauce and Italian sausage (minds out of the gutter, people) all over their faces in a playful, romantic kind of way. The marketing possibilities here are seemingly endless …

Why throw away tens of thousands of dollars on a lavish ceremony when you could have a fast-food wedding on the cheap? The memories will be more or less the same — just exchange crystal and fine linen for paper plates and plastic cups. And best of all, you’ll be able to reminisce every time you swing into a Carl’s Jr. or a Burger King for a bite to eat. Simply turn to your beloved and remark, “Hey, this is hamburger joint reminds me of our wedding day.”
