CAT SMILE MISSING, CALIFORNIA JURY PETS BEVERAGE COMPANY
A California jury awarded the furry hairball frown queen more than $700,000 this week in a federal lawsuit over the use of her advertising identity. Owner Tabatha Bundesen of Morristown, Arizona, won the three year old lawsuit. She and her grumpy cat defeated the Grenade beverage company. She signed on for the cat to endorse a “Grumpy Cat Grumpuccino,” without cat smile. The company subsequently used the cat’s image to help sell other products. The eight person jury found on Monday to be an unauthorized licensing of the furry beast.
Grumpy Cat, who’s not quite normal, she suffers from dwarfism and a major underbite. This is what gives her the permanent upside down cat smile she’s famous for. She burst onto the scene to become an online phenomenon through social media and turned into a merchandising machine after Tabatha Bundesen first posted pictures of her online in 2012. Being that famous of a cat isn’t a bad business, the girl is worth a reported $100 Million according to the Huffington Post.
