Fat Couple Did Not Grant Permission for Skinnier Pics

COUPLE DID NOT GRANT PERMISSION FOR SKINNIER PHOTOSHOPPED PHOTOS

A recently engaged heavy couple in Ohio hired a photographer to do some traditional shots before their wedding ceremony.  Unfortunately for them, their wedding photographer wasn’t able to focus on their obvious love for one another.  Instead the photographer zoomed in on their weight!  Their photographer reportedly Photoshopped their engagement pictures without giving them the heads up or asking permission.  Normally that’s the kind of thing you get some clearance and feedback about first.  The couple felt discriminated against and fat shamed.  They didn’t hire a photographer to make them look skinnier.  It’s a shame, because these photos should have been a joy to them.  They didn’t grant permission for the edits, nor for what followed after.

NORMAL DAY, NICE SHOOT, THEN SHOCKED AT THE FAT-SHAMING POST

The couple had a normal photoshoot with Linda Silvestri of Tower Photography in Medina, Ohio and had a really nice time.  At least, that’s what they thought at the time.  They were very excited to get the pictures back.  They wanted to get a good idea how their wedding day pictures would likely look.  But when the photographer sent them the pictures they realized some had been filtered and were blurry.  The photographer also shot many pictures at weird angles that made no sense.  But the photographer also Photoshopped several of the pictures to make the couple appear skinnier without their permission. The situation offended the couple greatly.

PHOTOGRAPHER APOLOGIZED BUT TOOK IT TO FACEBOOK TO FURTHER FAT-SHAME

The photographer has since apologized. But she explained that the majority of brides prefer to be Photoshopped and want to look skinnier in her photos. She said that she assumed wrong and should have asked them to grant permission.  So she offered a refund, but kept their $150 deposit. That seemed like a good solution.  But the couple found a Facebook post days later called “Northeast Ohio Wedding Professionals Only.” The photographer had posted a pic of the couple describing them as a “morbidly obese couple” who were a pain in the ass to work with.  She further wrote that “It is extremely difficult to get Pinterest worthy lovey-dovey pics when people can’t even get their heads close to each other”.  The photographer has since taken down the offensive Facebook post.

BE WARNED, GET YOUR MONEY BACK IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU

The couple wants to warn other brides and grooms about their experience.  The photographer has yet to apologize for her comments on Facebook.  So be sure to get the skinny on a photographer before you hire them.  Otherwise, you just might find offensive pictures of you online with nasty captions.   Pictures that you paid for!
