IF YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD LOOK AT PORN WITHOUT A VPN AND REMAIN ANONYMOUS, THINK AGAIN
So much for me time. I’ve got an old friend I’ve fallen out of touch with who once totally shocked me and several other buddies. There was some guy conversation at a cigar bar. You get the idea. But this seemingly square, relatively innocent seeming guy was actually a ninja when it came to online porn. After a few rounds, he delivered a fairly astounding lecture on how to watch porn, especially when your significant other was at home too. So yeah, I’m a dude and figured I knew how to watch porn on the sly. But I’m no porn ninja like this guy. Yet I can’t help wondering what he thinks of the recent news about Google Analytics tracking our every porn watching move, pretty much always. That secret browsing isn’t so secret, after all.

GOOGLE ANALYTICS AND OTHERS ALL OVER YOUR ONLINE PORN BROWSING
But don’t even start shaking your head and thinking about incognito mode. It seriously doesn’t mean a damn thing. Well, it does mean your own browser won’t record any of your browsing data. But the naughty sites you visit will themselves embed tracking scripts from both Google and Facebook. They do this for every single damn page. AA recent study reported that 93% of over 22,000 porn sites have some form of 3rd party tracker. Most of those were Google Analytics. But there are several others as well. And some of those others we know as the worst privacy offenders I the tech world. Think: Oracle.

THEY EVEN CONNECT YOUR PHONE’S AD ID TO EVERYTHING ELSE, AND EVERYONE YOU LIVE WITH
So what does this mean? It means your browser config, IP address and your ad ID from on your phone can be used to connect your supposedly anonymous browsing with your other, trackable mode. In other words, some nefarious privacy goat-fuckers are tracking every last detail of your porn consuming habits, down to every last tag word. Think about that. Even better? They’re connecting that to every other normal thing you do online, as well as anyone in our household as well. I won’t even bother including Google Analytics and Facebook’s attestations about their white hats here. We know what those are worth, don’t we?
So what to do? You’ve simply got to get a VPN of some sort or another. Preferably, one that declares in thorough fashion that they don’t make or keep a log of your activity. And if your wife works for Google? You’re toast.
