Modern Day Gold Heist, $15 Million Disappears At Toronto Airport

THIEVES STEAL $15 MILLION AND MORE IN MODERN DAY GOLD HEIST AT TORONTO AIRPORT

It’s been decades since the Bond movie Goldfinger came out.  While that wasn’t about a gold heist exactly, it was about stealing the value of gold.  And gold heists used to be a thing in history, though we’ve come to think of them as a thing of the past.  Except that thieves tend to consider history as a blueprint for current success.  And that really means that anything, anywhere could be a score for theft, and gold is no exception.  That pretty much explains how thieves somehow made off with $15 million of gold from Pearson Airport, in Toronto.

GOLD HEIST ALSO INCLUDED SEVERAL OTHER UNDISCLOSED “HIGH VALUE” ITEMS

So what happened?  On Monday, a 5-square-foot container in a holding facility simply vanished.  The container held the $15 million in gold, as well as other undisclosed “high value” items.  That term tends to mean extremely valuable, as in this gold heist was worth a LOT more.  So investigators have a few logical questions that will shape where and how they look.  For one, who knew that the container held that much gold?  And another question is, what were those “high value” items?  And who knew what those were, as well?  The list of who knew is likely to be pretty short, including any shipping and airport staff.

POLICE KNOW VERY LITTLE, AND THIS GOLD HEIST WILL BE MORE THAN INTERESTING SOON

So far, police don’t even know what the final destination of the container was.  As in, who was even expecting to receive it?  Details, obviously, are scant about this gold heist.  And we the public know even less.  Who did this shipping container belong to?  Who was expecting to receive it?  Who did the gold and other valuables belong to?  And, of course, who took it?  It’s a damn fine mystery, and when the details come out, it’s likely a story worth at least a Hallmark tv special movie.
