Forensic Artist Digitizes English Assassin Using His Skull

ENGLISH ASSASSIN FROM 1812 NOW HAS A FACE AGAIN

This is pretty messed up and really cool.  But I suppose it was inevitable and we can all expect a lot more of this stuff.  We can’t always really personify some historic figures.  But now we can do just a bit more of it.  The new prime example is John Bellingham, who shot the British Prime Minister Spence Perceval in 1812.  Bellingham’s skull is one of the more random items that the Queen Mary Pathology Museum displays.  And now, thanks to the efforts of a forensic artist, we can see the face of this 19th Century English assassin.

HUNG FOR HIS CRIMES, HIS SKULL NOW IN A MUSEUM FOR ALL TO SEE

Prime Minister Perceval died from the fatal shots in the lobby of the Palace of Westminster.  So that’s what makes Bellingham an assassin!  To date he is the only person to have successfully killed an English prime minister.  Bellingham was a bankrupt and disturbed former businessman.  And now we can see him in all his ill-got glory.  Authorities convicted him and 4 days later hung him until he was dead.  As was the norm then, medical scientists received his body for research and his skull ended up at the Queen Mary Pathology Museum.

FORENSIC ARTIST USED SKULL, COMPUTERS AND HISTORY TO RECREATE KILLER’S FACE

Hew Morrison is the forensic artist who tackled the digital reconstruction.  After receiving permission from currently living relatives of Bellingham, Morrison went to work.  He used specialized computer software but had to figure a few things out.  We don’t know Bellingham’s eye color, nor his skin tone.  So those were improvisations.  But Morrison gave him a contemporary hair style.  Bellingham sported side burns in all the historic illustrations.  So those are spot on, as it were.  But as you can see from the digital portrait, something seems off about this guy.  Is it the artist?  Or was that the face of a deranged killer?
