DRUG DEALER ATTEMPTS TO ELUDE POLICE IN SLOW SPEED SCOOTER CHASE

So every now and again we find a story that tells us just how stupid some people can be.  But when it comes to stupid criminals it’s kind of funny.  Why?  Well, because.  This is definitely one of those stories.  The criminal’s name is Joseph Scurti.  He’s a suspected drug dealer.  He was also on parole and probation.  So what happened?  Well, Scurti is one of those people who gets around on a scooter.  No, there’s nothing wrong with riding a scooter.  But they’re a bad way to escape police.  You guessed it, it was a slow speed chase.  Scurti lost.

POLICE TRIED TO PULL HIM OVER, BUT HE (S)PED AWAY SLOWLY

Scurti ran out of luck when Casson City police tried to pull Scurti over on his Tao Tao scooter.  But Scurti didn’t’ pull over.  Quite the contrary.  So the police ran his scooter’s registration and realized Scurti had two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest.  But Scurti thought he had a chance to get away.  He fled down Highway 50 for a bit.  But then he rode his Tau Tau onto a sidewalk to get away from the pursuing cops.  But that didn’t work out too well.  He quickly hit one of the pursuing patrol cars and his scooter got stuck underneath.

So of course Scurti took off on foot but police quickly apprehended him with a tackle, got him in handcuffs and arrested him.  Scurti told police he wasn’t running, he was just trying to drop the scooter off at a friend’s place.  Dumb.  He now faces a ton of charges.  But the big ones include suspicion of a parole and probation warrant and probation violation.  He’ll also face obstruction charges.  But let’s not forget fleeing police, resisting arrest and the like.  Oh, and there will be just a few more about how he was riding his scooter dangerously.
