Her name was, and still remains, Gladys Rodriguez Duarte. But why both? Well, because she was dead, so remains is a pun. Except, she wasn’t dead. So her name remains the same. But whatever, right? Gladys is from Paraguay. She had a husband and a daughter. But then, one day, she woke up in a body bag. Like, she woke up IN A BODY BAG. Just think about that. So what happened? Well, obviously, someone made a mistake. They declared Gladys dead, and she WAS NOT DEAD. It’s the stuff of nightmares. But it’s better than waking up in a coffin, 6 feet under, I suppose.

So how did she wake up in a body bag? She had gone to the San Fernando Clinic, in Coronel Oviedo. Gladys suffers from high blood pressure and she knew it was going up, again. So she went for help to get it under control. The 46-year-old then “died” two hours after she got there. But she didn’t. But a doctor there declared her dead. He even contacted Gladys’s husband and daughter to tell them the wife and mother was gone. So just imagine getting that call, right? Your world has ended and you have lost someone irreplaceable. Because this isn’t the sort of thing doctors get wrong. But a part of you refused to believe it can be true. And then, you realize it actually isn’t true. You get another phone call…

So here’s what actually happened next. Enough time went by that Gladys’s body went into a body bag. Then staff took it to a local funeral home. We’re not talking a few minutes here, folks. But when workers at the funeral home unloaded her body, they realized that her body was moving inside the body bag. Well, yes, because she woke up in there and started moving around. They immediately took her to a Social Welfare Medical Institute and went under observation. The doctor, it seems, could not find her pulse and she was unresponsive. I don’t know about you. But have you ever heard about a doctor who can’t find a pulse in a live person? Gladys’s husband has filed a complaint. I mean, his wife woke up in a body bag!
