BETRAYED BY THE LIES OF A LOVER?

Ever felt betrayed by a friend, family member or lover?  Even more specifically, because of a lie?  Have you ever been cornered in a lie, and couldn’t quite get out of it?  There are ways to tell if someone is lying.  There are signs.  You just need to sniff around like a bloodhound in order to figure out if you are being lied to.  You don’t even need a high-tech lie detector in order to find out.  Just use these simple observations and tricks.  Various non-verbal clues will help you identify deceit. Posture, the look of the eyes, rate of movement, the story, their response, shaking of the head, differences in behavior, and most importantly, trusting your gut.

SLUMPERS ARE FULL OF DECEIT

Posture is key.  If someone is lying they tend to slump into themselves in order to subconsciously protect themselves from their deceit. If their body is open, then they are probably being honest. Being open means you are more physically defenseless. If they suddenly close their body or start to calm themselves with movement (shaking their wrist, or tapping their foot), it means they are full of lies, lies, lies.

NON-VERBAL SIGNS THAT GIVE CLUES

Some of the first non-verbal signs of deceit is lack of eye contact.  If they are avoiding your eye and looking elsewhere – they are most probably lying.  Or they have Attention Deficit Disorder.  But they are probably lying. If they are on the Autism Spectrum, there will naturally be a lack of eye contact.

TOO FAST OR TOO SLOW ALSO MEANS LIES

Examine their movements.  If they are lying, they will be conscious of their movements. They many move slower or be very still.  Hands to the side, speaking slowly and even keeping their facial movements to a minimum.  They may be trying to act calm or look calm, to further deceive you. A skilled liar will be able to do this effortlessly.  So be warned.

STORYTELLER OR STORYLIAR?

Really listen to their story.  The details may change time and time again.  It’s the little details that you want to keep tabs on.  In this case it will be very easy to catch them in a lie.  Also, their response is key.  If they are quick to respond with a smooth answer, they are full of deceit.  If they are very reactive – as in too much (e.g. tears, accusations, screaming), they are probably lying.

RUNNING FOR THE DOOR EQUALS DECEIT

Other non-verbal cues are the crossing of legs and facing them away from you.  If the legs are further towards the exit, then you can bet your bottom dollar that deceit is nearby.

Ultimately, trusting your gut is the most important clue.  If something just doesn’t seem right, nine times out of ten, they are lying to you.
