DAD SHOOTS SON OVER NFL PROTEST KNEELING ARGUMENT ON TURKEY DAY
Well it ain’t gonna get no more redneck than this. Ok, well maybe not until the next redneck fiasco. But shooting your son on Thanksgiving over an argument is pretty darn redneck. So much for family fun and a great Turkey Day. I don’t know what everyone thinks about the kneeling protest in the NFL. You know, protesting how many minorities die from police bullets every year? NFL players, starting with Kaepernick, have been taking a knee during the national anthem as a visible form of protest. But thanks to Trump, rich white NFL owners and many others, arguments about this have become really heated. That’s how a dad shoots his son on Thanksgiving.
SON HAD BEEN DRINKING HEAVILY ALL THANKSGIVING DAY LONG, GOT VIOLENT
This all happened on Turkey Day in North Carolina. 21-year-old Esteban got in a heated argument with his brother Valencia over the NFL protest. Their father is 51-year-old Jorge Luis Valencia-Lamadrid. He told police that Valencia had been drinking a lot all Thanksgiving Day. But the argument over the NFL kneeling got so heated he physically attacked Esteban. So Jorge made his first mistake. He grabbed his shotgun and told his son to leave. But that didn’t work out so well.
ARRESTED DAD SAYS SHOOTING SON WAS TOTAL ACCIDENT
Jorge said that not only did Valencia not leave, he went into the back yard and got violent. He started throwing patio furniture and anything to hand. Jorge told officers he never meant to shoot, never mind hurt, his son. He’d been holding it by the pistol grip, which was another mistake. Because when Valencia hit him in the face with a water bottle, he squeezed the trigger, shooting his son in the hand and leg. Valencia went to a hospital for medical treatment. But police then arrested Jorge and charged him with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, including the infliction of serious injury.
Authorities released Jorge two days later from the Wake County Jail on a $50,000 bond. So much for a happy Turkey day!
