Teen Survives Insane Crocodile Attack on Puerto Vallarta Beach

TEEN SURVIVES STUNNING CROCODILE ATTACK IN MEXICO’S PUERTO VALLARTA

So I’m afraid of crocodiles, with good reason.  To start, they are incredibly efficient ambush predators.  So much so, that evolution hasn’t changed them much since before humans started walking upright.  They’re powerful, fast and persistent when they want to eat something.  And for one teen on a beach in Puerto Vallarta, it was almost the end of her story.  Her name is Kiana Hummel and she was on vacation at a resort in the amazing, historic city in Mexico.  She approached the water for a midnight swim when the crocodile attack took everyone for surprise.

CROC PULLED HER UNDER WATER, SHE BROKE FREE, IT TOOK HER DOWN AGAIN

Hummel hadn’t even reached the water before the crocodile came up onto the beach and grabbed onto her leg, dragging her into the water.  She says she didn’t panic, even as she went under water.  So she kept hitting the croc hard until it let her right leg go.  She almost got away!  But then the croc latched onto her left ankle to drag her back under water.  Fortunately, other guests at the Puerto Vallarta resort heard her yell and came running.  They managed to get her free and out of the water to safety.  Hummel is alive.  But she has major tissue damage down to the bone and can’t walk yet.

AFTER OTHER GUESTS OF PUERTO VALLARTA RESORT SAVED HER, HOSPITAL RANSOMED TREATMENT

But here’s the strange thing.  It’s not clear why it took 45 minutes for the ambulance to arrive.  Is it because the Marriott didn’t want to call one in, to avoid scaring the other guests?  And even worse, once the ambulance got Hummel to the hospital, it demanded thousands of dollars up front before treating her!  Sure, I was already scared of crocodiles.  But I’ve actually been to that Puerto Vallarta Marriott years ago!  Now, there is a public battle that will continue about what is real.  Did the resort actually have warning signs?  They didn’t when I was there….
