IN TAIWAN, A CRAZY DOCTOR MADE A VIDEO OF GIVING HIMSELF A VASECTOMY AS A GIFT TO HIS WIFE
As an older, married person, I’d just like to say that the benefits to my having the old “snip-snip” procedure are long in the past. But I must admit that when it would have had pregnancy-preventative utility for me, even the idea made me a little queasy. If you don’t know what I’m referring to yet, I’m talking about the surgical procedure better known as a vasectomy. It’s a pretty simple and usually fast situation, where in 15 minutes a doctor cuts the delivery system of sperm anywhere. Hence the “snip-snip.” But now I’m more than queasy, knowing that a crazy doctor performed a vasectomy on himself, and made a video of the whole thing as a gift to his wife.

WHILE CONDOMS AREN’T ROMANTIC, A DIY VASECTOMY VIDEO IS EVEN LESS SO
Now, obviously we’d all prefer to avoid using prophylactics whenever possible. They’re not romantic, they can be or get damaged. And they can fall off (for some) at the most in-opportunistic times. So maybe it’s the case that the good, crazy doctor’s wife found his gift to be an amazing boon for their lives together. Or maybe she’s allergic to what most condoms are made of. But even if I had the ability to, I can’t imagine ever performing such a, ah, delicate procedure like a vasectomy on myself. And just think about the physical logistics of operating on one’s own testicles.

SELF-DONE VASECTOMY TOOK AN HOUR TO PERFORM, 4 TIMES THE NORMAL; OW?
Usually, a vasectomy takes roughly 15 minutes and then it’s all done, besides a few days of thematic soreness. Well, and stitches, down there. But the Crazy Doctor Chen Wei-Nong, a plastic surgeon living in Taipei City, Taiwan, had to spend an hour from those physical logistics to perform the surgery on himself. And yes, the video is out there. In it, you can hear him say, “It’s a really weird feeling,” while he’s stitching himself back together, down there. I sincerely hope his gift to his wife was well, ahem, received. Especially as he posted the video to social media himself.
