New Covid-Safe Desk Design Could Face Serious Criticism

SMART COVID-SAFE DESK DESIGN COULD HAVE PROBLEMS, LOOKS LIKE SWASTIKA

Wow.  I’m guessing this is a cultural blind spot.  Because any other explanation deserves serious criticism and no forgiveness whatsoever.  All you have to do is look a the picture.  There just might be a small problem with the design.  What, you don’t see it?  Because that looks a whole lot like a Nazi Swastika.  Yeah, I knew you’d see it, too.  The idea of the desk is solid.  It takes into consideration what office like may need to look like whenever we achieve post-pandemic life.  You know, achievable distance?  It’s supposed to be Covid-safe.

COVID-SAFE DESK DESIGN IS TOTALLY FUNCTIONAL, BUT SHOULD NEVER GO INTO PRODUCTION

So it’s not a bad design, actually.  It’s functional.  It’s whatever passes for ergonomic these days.  And it’s somewhat space efficient.  Mostly, it fills a “need” as most office planning ideas remain the open kind, and possibly Covid-safe.  The design comes from Kim Suk-kyung, a professor at Yonsei University in South Korea.  I’m sure he understands the coming criticism now.  But in terms of reducing any disease transmission in offices, he says, “We need to consider if offices will need large spaces in the future. For example, the US is focusing on using smaller space efficiently. Changes to the layout of work stations can prevent the need to move to larger space to social distance.”  Ok, he’s not wrong.  Being Covid-safe is on all our minds these days.

COVID-SAFE DESK HAS GOOD INTENTIONS, BUT SPEAKS TO WORST PART OF MODERN HISTORY

So Kim used solid design logic and thought about how we can have contemporary desks for multiple workers in an office environment that will have people close.  But not too close.  So rotating work stations with high walls that keep personal air separate is a good way to go.  But unfortunately, this good Covid-safe concept hearkens to some other things.  You know, the genocide?  Racial dominance?  Aryan tenets?  Yeah, that’s not quite functional.  But hey, maybe the Aryan Nation’s lawyers, accountants and business managers will go for it.
