ELK GORED COLORADO GOLFER BETWEEN HOLES, SLICING HIS KIDNEY IN TWO PIECES
So I don’t know about anyone else. But I like golf. Well, playing golf, not watching it on television. Though, I must say that Beavis and Butthead clearly understood that golf coverage is full of innuendo. But I haven’t been able to play for some time. And hearing about this would make me think twice about playing any courses in some places. But Colorado? Yes, Colorado. An elk in Colorado was pretty damn angry and aggressive. So much so, that it gored a golfer finishing up his round. And yes, it was pretty bad. The elk sliced his kidney in half.

GOLF COURSE IS A HUGE NATURE MOMENT, BUT THEN NATURE STRIKES IN ELK FORM
So who was the unlucky when animals attack victim? His name is Zak Bornhoft. He was in a foursome (see? Innuendo galore) wrapping up their golfing day at the Evergreen Golf Course just outside of Denver. And, it has a perfect name. Every tee on the 18-hole course offers views of the Evergreen Lake, which is gorgeous. So it’s the perfect nature tableau. But nature comes with danger sometimes along with beauty. And on that day, danger thy name was ELK. Well, elk(s). Dozens of them roamed the course at will while the four played their round.

A HORNY ELK IS A DANGEROUS ELK, AS GOLFER SUFFERS SERIOUS INJURY RIDING IN GOLF CART
So Zak and his buddies did all they could to avoid the large creatures with dangerous horns. But between the 16th and 17th holes, a bull elk charged Zak and his friend riding in a golf cart. So the bull elk charged them and missed the first time. Zak’s friend, who was driving the cart, hit the gas to get away. But the elk came back in and gored Zak on his right side. It’s antler went into the back of Zak’s right hip. But it went in pretty damn deep, slicing his kidney in two pieces. Zak, of course, is still recovering in the hospital. He said the whole thing was just insane. Zak has the privilege of being the first golfer in 15 years that an elk has gored.
And yes, it’s mating season for elk. And horny bull elks would totally see a golf cart as a threat to their hope of getting some seasonal fun in.
