China Goes All Surveillance With Trackable School Uniforms

CHINA BEGINS ERA OF SCHOOL SURVEILLANCE WITH TRACKABLE UNIFORMS

Orwell really keeps staying on all our minds these days.  But these days are the days of new tech and the ever-increasing surveillance state.  And by surveillance state, that means every state, pretty much everywhere.  But China continues to keep the bar high with its surveillance efforts and reach.  And now we have the first major use us tracking chips in children’s school uniforms.  This is happening at more than 10 schools in Guizhou Province and its neighboring Guangxi region.  That, of course, is one of China’s poorest areas.  But these trackable, intelligent uniforms are for real.

TEACHERS, PARENTS AND ADMINISTRATORS WILL NOW ALWAYS BE WATCHING KIDS

So these intelligent uniforms will allow teachers, parents and school officials to know exactly when children arrive or depart the schools.  This confirmation came from Lin Zongwu who is the principal at No. 11 School of Renhuai, Guizhou Province.  So if any of these kids are truant, or leave early, it will set off an alarm.  Busted!  But there’s more.  So what if students try to be clever and switch uniforms?  Double busted!  The schools also employ facial recognition tech.  If your face doesn’t match the uniform, you’re done.

CHIPPED UNIFORMS WILL BUY YOUR LUNCH, ALSO BUST YOU FOR NAPPING IN CLASS

So what about accidents or excessive laundering?  Nah.  They thought of that too.  Each uniform will have two chips that can handle heat up to 150 C.  They say that they can also take up to 500 spins thru a washing machine and dryer.  But nice try!  So what if that math class is super duper boring and the teacher’s monotone creates widespread narcolepsy?  Nope, you’re still toast.  If you fall asleep your uniform will inform on you.  Maybe they should call this thing the uni-informer?  So what else?  You can buy your lunch or other necessities with the chipped uniforms as well.

So we’ll see how this goes.  Then we’ll see if it hits the West, too.  Then we’ll see if any country, anywhere, decides to make these chips mandatory for all citizens.
