Chicken Crisis in the UK Sparks Clever Ad Campaign from KFC

Chicken Crisis in the UK Sparks Clever Ad Campaign from KFC

CHICKEN SHORTAGE FOR KFC RESTAURANT SPARKS RAGE, CHICKEN CRISIS

There is a chicken shortage in the UK which is making people rage. Let’s get real:  people love their fried chicken.  The smell and taste of the crispiness of the exterior to the juicy meat, is something customers crave on their way home from work. But without fried chicken, some customers have had to get their chicken meals from other fast food sources, like Burger King.  And we aren’t entirely sure,  is that real chicken meat anyway?  It’s still good, however they don’t specialize in chicken. It’s the home of the Whopper.  But the disappointed fried chicken fans has prompted Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) to put out a pile of tongue-in-cheek advertisements to appease their angry customers.  The ad campaign is clever and full of humor, in the hopes of comforting their customers in this chicken crisis.

KFC IS FCKD WITHOUT THEIR CHICKEN SUPPLIES SPARKS CLEVER AD CAMPAIGN IN UK

KFC coin FCK in their clever ad campaign.  They emblazoned FCK on a KFC chicken bucket and underneath the bucket it states: we’re sorry. And then they go a little further: “We’re sorry. A chicken restaurant without any chicken. It’s not ideal. Huge apologies to our customers, especially those who travelled out of their way to find we were closed. And endless thanks to our KFC team members and our franchise partners for working tirelessly to improve the situation. It’s been a hell of a week, but we’re making progress, and every day more and more fresh chicken is being delivered to our restaurants. Thank you for bearing with us.”  Crazy times, when you have to fly your chicken for local delivery.

They further joke that:  the chicken crossed the road, just not to our restaurants.  A spokesperson for the restaurant explained that the idea and use of the tongue-in-cheek ad was to add some much-needed humor and lightness to the chicken crisis.  All in hopes of retaining their current customers and future customers. The clever ad campaign has become very popular on social media. And their marketing people are being commended for their clever chicken crisis cleverness. What came first, the chicken or the ad campaign?  The ad campaign…. So let’s all hope there’s never another shortage of chicken!  Otherwise it’s beef or fish forever.
