Is CCSU Shooting a Hoax?

TheBlot has talked to officials at CCSU, who have not been able to confirm the threat of a gunman on campus, meaning that this could all turn out to be a hoax.

At approximately 12:20pm EST a student called the CCSU Admissions Office to report that a gunman in a ski-mask and fatigues at entered the school’s James Hall. Shortly after, multiple reports started appearing on Twitter from students with rumors flying that the apparent gunman also had a knife.

Emergency director David Pierce took down the school’s website at around 12:35, replacing it with red text asking all students and teachers to remain in their classrooms and stay away from windows.

Shortly after the school’s site changed to emergency text, more unconfirmed reports started appearing, saying that the gunman now had an AK-47 and that he also had 20 hostages.

Even the student-run newspaper, The Recorder, got in on the action, saying that the gunman had been detained. This was not confirmed by police. In fact, TheBlot has exclusively learned that nobody has been able to confirm a gunman at all.

The Recorder reporters have stated on their Twitter that they are unable to leave the building in which they have been contained. Skyler Magnoli, Assistant News Editor for The Recorder, stated that she was getting her information from “a girl outside James Hall.” When asked whether that student was getting her information directly from the authorities, Skyler sounded indignant and said that she would call us back. The Recorder was the only media outlet in the nation to make an official report on their being a gunman on campus.

It appears that the entire thing might be a hoax called in by a single student.

UPDATE 2:55PM: According to NBC Connecticut, police have detained a suspect. There is no official word whether the suspect is explicitly linked to the shooting.

It appears that the suspect could actually be the gentleman on the left, who apparently wore this outfit for Halloween, according to this Twitter account… perhaps this is all a giant misunderstanding?
