FLUFFY WHITE AND BLACK CAT IS FEARLESS AND SUPPORTS THE TRAINING OF SERVICE DOGS
A cat named D-O-G (pronounced ‘dee-OH-jee’) thinks he’s a dog and he’s fearless. But he works to train dogs to be service dogs! Trainers work with each dog over a two-year period and it’s thanks to D-O-G. This fluffy and loving black and white cat works at Support Dogs, Inc in St. Louis. The support training dogs receive include helping people with mobility related issues and people with hearing loss.
D-O-G IS A FRISKY CAT THAT LOVES TO BE AROUND DOGS ALL DAY LONG
D-O-G has an important function and that is to get the dogs used to being around a frisky cat. So, this fearless cat who thinks he’s a dog gets to try to annoy these dogs all day long. The reason being, that the services that these dogs provide are for a population of people who may not act typically. So, the service dogs need to remain calm around the (feline) face of distraction. D-O-G tests their patience all day long for several years. And once the service doges have proven that they can keep calm, they are ready to help people.

This fearless cat has now become a huge internet star. But this sweet cat was once a barn kitten, where the Director of Support Dogs, Inc. first met D-O-G. Nadine Wenig was staying at this bed and breakfast when she met him as a kitten. The owners of the B&B ended up giving the sweet cat to Wenig. So she brought him back to the nonprofit center, where staff began to slowly introduce the kitty to the service dogs in training. All the staff love DOG, even those who claim that they are dog people. They spoil him like crazy and love him fiercely. So for a cat named D-O-G, it’s DOG’s world.
