POOR FOOL SENDS SHOE BOX WITH LIFE SAVINGS, $23,000, TO RECYCLING
So we’ve all had those days. You know the ones. When you have such a massive brain fart that you do something incredibly stupid. Well, ok, maybe you’ve never had a brain fart quite this spectacular. But one man in Oregon had a truly epic brain fart. He didn’t realize until after the fact that he had accidentally sent a shoebox to recycling. But what was in it? Well, his life savings in cash. He sent $23,000 to recycling! But fortunately, this didn’t turn into a tragedy. The Oregon man reached out to get help.
AFTER HE REALIZED HIS MISTAKE, MAN DESPERATELY CALLS FOR HELP TO FIND HIS LIFE SAVINGS
The recycling service is provided by Recology, in Humboldt County. The Oregon man must have been freaking out. But that’s because he realized his mistake after all those materials had already gone to the sorting center in California. So when Recology recycling workers got the word, they kept an eye out to find the shoebox among literally thousands of pounds of material. Officials at Recology were not confident anyone would find it. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack. But we’re talking about a huuuuuge haystack. We’re talking a literal mountain of recycling materials.
AGAINST ALL ODDS, RECYCLING WORKER FINDS ALL BUT $320 OF MISSING CASH
But in what we can only say is an amazing miracle, someone did indeed find the shoebox. The general manager of Recology’s Samoa Resource Recovery Center, Linda Wise, reported that an eagle eyed worker found the shoe box. Amazingly, the workers found that the shoe box still had $22,940 of cash inside. So that means that this massive, epic brain fart only cost the man $320! So there is luck in the world! But I don’t know how much is left after this man avoided disaster. The surely relieved man travelled to the recycling center with his family to pick up his saved (and saved again) life savings.
