Who knew science would be an extra draw on the brain drain hitting the United States? And please don’t say “what brain drain?” Because you should already know that the Trumpian war on science as government policy is have a number of bad effects. But of particular note is how many of the smartest folks in education in education and science in all sorts of professions are looking for greener, more scientific pastures. You know, pastures fertilized with habeas corpus but also funding? And Canada is in line with the rest of the world to get our brainiacs, and is promising a better home for medical pros, one with science and a wee tad more sanity.

AMERICAN MEDICAL PROS APPLYING FOR WORK IN BRITISH COLUMBIA JUMPED 167% IN LAST FEW MONTHS
While this is good news for medical pros and most likely for Canada, it’s really bad news for America and Americans. Why? Because the people we want working here, taking care of us, and doing the most important research, are leaving. Fast. In the last few recent months, Canada’s British Columbia alone has seen a jump of American doctors and nurses applying to work there of a staggering 167%. In recent months. And that is a trend that will only get worse, both with smart American workers leaving for Canada and anywhere else that supports science more than America does.

And with RFK Jr. steering American healthcare into a ditch, this could prove even more devastating in a few years, or even sooner. You know, when Measles becomes a major American problem? Again? Because many of the most qualified healthcare workers won’t be here to help patients. And the fact that Trump wants America to leave the WHO, had cut major programs and staff at the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control is only extra wind in the gale that is pushing the sails of the worst brain drain in history.
America is getting dumber, fast. And it will take years to recover, if we ever will.
