Who You Gonna Call? A Paranormal Helpline in India

INDIA HAS A PARANORMAL HELPLINE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE “SEEING” THINGS THEY CAN CALL

So like all movies, we’ll have to wait a little longer for the new Ghostbusters movie to come out.  But, most of us don’t feel comfortable to come out, either.  Thanks a lot, Covid!  But some people are feeling the walls press in.  The more so because fear makes emotional claustrophobia worse.  And some folks in India are feeling that in a big way.  But they’re starting to see stuff that most likely isn’t there at all.  And now, the paranormal hotline there is getting more calls.  So who you gonna call?  His name is Jay Alani.  He’s an increasingly known paranormal investigator.  Back off, man.  He’s a scientist.

PANDEMIC HAS PEOPLE EXTRA AFRAID, AND SCARED PEOPLE SEE PARANORMAL THINGS

So the paranormal helpline is getting as many as 8 to 10 calls every day.  And, yes, that is a lot.  But most of them are because of the fear and isolation this pandemic is causing.  You can chalk it up to that fear energizing blind faith, superstition, and a belief in black magic and mesmerism.  Jay Alani saw that there was a need to rebut these fearful perceptions.  So he made the paranormal hotline available about two months ago to rebut them.  Well, and to reassure people.  No, it’s not real.  Yes, you are imagining things.  And yes, it’s really ok.  We’re glad you called.

SOME ARE WATCHING SCARY MOVIES ALONE, OTHERS HAVE PAST TRAUMA, AND THE PARANORMAL SEEMS REAL

So most callers say they saw a ghost.  Ok, that happens everywhere.  What was that noise?  Do you hear what I hear?  Or, maybe, I always feel like, somebody’s watching me.  The quarantine and the extra fear has made all of these more common.  Jay Alani thinks that many people are watching a lot of media, stuck at home.  I can only imagine what I’d do if I watched The Exorcist for the first time, alone in the pandemic.  But he says that past trauma is a big part of this dynamic.  Old fear informs the new, almost always.  And, he should know.  He’s investigated more than 100 haunted houses.  He’s also reviewed upwards of 150 cases involving the paranormal.

Now, if only we could get this over here in the United States.  Go into the light, Carol Anne!
