British Government Almost Killed All Pet Cats to Stop Pandemic

THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT LITERALLY CONSIDERED KILLING ALL PET CATS TO STOP COVID IN 2020

Well, this story won’t endear the British government to cat lovers.  At all.  We are just now learning that during the early stages of the Covid pandemic that the British government was scrambling desperately to figure out a way to stop it.  And by desperate we’re talking about full-fledged panic mode.  Sure, we’re talking about July of 2020, when Covid numbers were spiking everywhere in the world and there was plenty of cause to panic.  Every major government faced the same challenging crisis, with emergency care facilities overwhelmed and likely death tolls spiraling out of control.  But not every government considered killing all of their country’s domesticated pet cats.

MOVE WAS CONSIDERED EVEN THOUGH NO EVIDENCE PET CATS COULD SPREAD COVID TO HUMANS

In a truly macabre pussy galore apocalypse, the British government really almost went there.  But while it’s fair to say that it was an open question at the time whether domestic pets could transit the Covid virus to people, it’s also fair to say, WTF!?!  Because while that was an open question, there wasn’t any actual evidence, at all, that pets could spread Covid to people.  And even if there had been, why would they only consider killing all of the pet cats and not dogs?  Who did the British government think they were, the French?

NEWS OF NEAR NATIONAL PET CATS CULLING IS MAJOR EMBARRASSMENT FOR ENGLAND

So ok, there was a little tiny bit of context at the time.  In July of 2020 a female Siamese cat became the first known animal in England to catch Covid.  So the UK health ministry warned all owners not to kiss their pets.  Fair enough.  I remember something like that here in the United States, though we seemed more inclined to worry that we would lose our pets to Covid, not that they would kill us by giving it to us.  But I don’t recall in any way, shape or form that Americans or anyone else considered killing ALL of their pet cats in some desperate move to stop Covid.

I guess the only thing we can wait to hear about this revelation is how the British government can figure out a way to blame Harry and Meghan.
