BORDER AND CUSTOMS PROTECTION AGENT SELLING GUNS ON THE SIDE FOR YEARS
So this is pretty disturbing. But I suppose it isn’t that surprising. People want guns. But Americans really want guns. You don’t have to be a criminal. Of course not. But which kinds of guns do people want the most? The ones they’re not supposed to have. So one U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent in California tried to meet the demand. He’s been illegally selling guns since 2014. His name is Wei Xu. He’s 56 years old and he’s from Santa Fe Springs. He was a CBP officer at both the LA and Long Beach Seaport. But instead of doing his job, he’s been selling guns on the side and into our streets.
DIRTY GUN DEALING AGENT RE-SOLD GUNS ONLY LAW ENFORCEMENT COULD BUY
So what’s this about guns people shouldn’t have? Well, how about guns that only members of law enforcement are allowed to buy? Xu was selling those and others and reselling them at a nice profit on a website, Calguns. So what happened? After 5 years, Xu sold four guns to a buyer who was really an undercover agent. Oops. But those deals happened in a parking lot! How very Michael Mann. But this time Xu sold the undercover agent three guns straight from his car’s trunk. Selling guns without a federally licensed firearms dealer is a big no no. So that’s crazy, right? I guess we do have some gun regulations, after all.
AUTHORITIES FOUND MORE THEN 300 GUNS IN HIS HOME, INCLUDING FULLY AUTOMATIC MACHINE GUNS
So federal prosecutors in California are accusing him of dealing firearms without a license. They’re also going after him for illegally transferring an unregistered short-barrel rifle. When authorities searched his house, they found more than 300 guns. But these included assault rifles, more of those short-barrel rifles. There may have even been fully automatic machine guns. Lovely. Lu could be in prison for five years. He sold at least 70 weapons. But we don’t know how much money he made on his illegal sales.
