Blow-Up Dolls Enforce Social Distancing in South Carolina Restaurant

REOPENED RESTAURANT, OPEN HEARTH, USES BLOW UP DOLLS TO ENFORCE SOCIAL DISTANCING

So I’ve heard about all sorts of strange things when it comes to enforcement.  Weapons, communications, tools, barriers, sonic devices, barf devices, you name it.  But blow up dolls?  Nah, they have nothing to do with enforcement.  Till, now, anyways.  A restaurant in South Carolina is open for business.  But they still have rules for social distancing (thank God).  The restaurant is Open Hearth, located in the town of Taylor.  Like many businesses in the state, they had to close back on March 17th, or St. Patrick’s Day.  But the state allowed businesses like Open Hearth to open back up this past week.

But social distancing is still in effect.  We’ve all experienced it already.  But I must say I haven’t yet in a restaurant.  I’m kinda leery of doing that just quite yet.  But if I went to Open Hearth, I think I’d appreciate their creative effort at the enforcement of social distancing rules.  Blow up dolls!  They have to have reduced numbers, especially to be able to have all customers a minimum of 6 feet apart while they dine.  But Open Hearth’s owners, Paula Starr Melehes and her husband James, bought a bunch of blow up dolls to make things nice and easy.  If, maybe, a little creepy to some.

MORE FRIENDLY THAN ROPE OR WARNING TAPE, BLOW UP DOLLS WILL MAKE THINGS NICE AND OBVIOUS

They didn’t want to use caution tape or rope to bock off areas.  So the blow up dolls are there to make things obvious.  If there are dolls in the booth or in the seats, you can’t sit there.  Sure, it makes me think a little of Will Smith as the last man in NYC, surrounded by Zombies.  And no, that’s no reflection on South Carolina.  But it is a reflection of what we are all experiencing these days.  Paula Starr said, “My grandson told me they look kind of creepy.  But, I think, when people walk in, they’re going to laugh.”  I hope so!  And I hope their business makes it thru this crisis, blow up dolls and all.
